With Qustodio\u2019s calls & messages monitoring feature, you can keep an eye on your kids\u2019 communications to detect suspicious contacts immediately and nip any problems in the bud. Activate monitoring<\/h2>\n

If your child has an iPhone or iPad<\/b>, then you need a few things to get started with monitoring: your own <\/span>Windows or Mac computer<\/span>, your child\u2019s device, and a cable to connect the two. <\/span>Once you have these to hand, download the Calls & Messages app onto your computer: <\/span>head here for the Windows version<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>here for the Mac version<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>Then follow the instructions on screen to set up monitoring.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Monitoring an Android device instead?<\/b> Then first, <\/span>download the Kids App from the Qustodio help center<\/span><\/a> onto your child\u2019s device – even if you\u2019ve already downloaded the Kids Apps from the Google Play Store. That version isn\u2019t compatible with calls & messages monitoring.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once you\u2019ve installed the app you need, log into your parent dashboard and go to the <\/span>Rules<\/b> section. Select <\/span>Calls & messages<\/b> and just switch on the toggle next to <\/span>Monitor calls & messages<\/b>. You\u2019ve now activated monitoring!<\/span><\/p>\n

Keeping an eye on your child\u2019s SMS messages (and iMessages if they have an iPhone) will help you make sure that they\u2019re staying safe in all their interactions. You can therefore choose to see the full content of both incoming and outgoing messages in their timeline. To do so, open the <\/span>Messages<\/b> tab on the <\/span>Calls & messages <\/b>rules screen and switch the toggle to the right.<\/span><\/p>\n

Check calls & messages activity<\/h2>\n

Head to your child\u2019s activity timeline for a complete overview of their calls and messages. There, you can check who they\u2019re calling (and who\u2019s calling them), when they called, plus how long they\u2019ve been speaking for. It\u2019s easy to tell whether their call was incoming or outgoing by checking the arrow next to it \u2013\u00a0upwards pointing indicates outgoing activity, while downwards indicates incoming. Depending on whether you\u2019ve switched on <\/span>Show message content<\/b>, you\u2019ll also see full information about their messages.<\/span><\/p>\n

Want a quick overview instead? Check the calls & messages card on your child\u2019s activity <\/span>Dashboard<\/b> for the highlights. You can also switch on daily or weekly email summaries from your<\/span> Account<\/b> page to get a summary sent directly to your inbox.<\/span><\/p>\n

Block phone calls*<\/h2>\n

If you want to stop your kids from making or receiving phone calls on their Android devices, it\u2019s easy to do. From the <\/span>Calls & messages <\/b>screen, simply slide the toggles next to <\/span>Incoming calls<\/b> and <\/span>Outgoing calls<\/b> to the left. Now, your child won\u2019t see any notifications if someone tries to call them. If they try to phone someone else, they\u2019ll see a blocking screen. Don\u2019t worry \u2013\u00a0emergency service numbers will never be blocked by Qustodio.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Set rules for specific phone numbers*<\/h2>\n

Have you given your child a smartphone mainly so they can stay in contact with you? Or, are there just a couple of phone numbers you\u2019ve noticed are suspicious and want to block? We\u2019ve got these situations covered. Set customized rules for specific phone numbers by selecting <\/span>Add a number<\/b> and filling out the details. Then, select <\/span>Allow all calls<\/b> or <\/span>Block all calls<\/b> and click save! Now these phone numbers won\u2019t be affected by the general rules you\u2019ve set above, so you can, for example, block all calls apart from those with you, or allow all apart from those with suspicious activity.<\/span><\/p>\n
